Complex and estate access
Most metro complexes now require contractors to sign in at the gate and follow a POPIA compliant access register, and some restrict noisy work to certain hours. Send the unit number, the complex name and the gate procedure with the booking and the visit does not stall at the boom.
Coastal homes get different fixings
Salt air destroys standard steel. On beachfront and near coastal properties, hinges, brackets and gate hardware get stainless or galvanised fixings by default, because the ordinary ones will be rusted again within a season.
Parking matters more than you think
A cordless drill and a full toolbox need a reasonable carry. If parking is tight or the unit is a long walk from the road, say so when you book and it gets allowed for in the time rather than guessed at.
